Gift Card Box

I wanted to make something cute to keep the cards that we might get at the wedding.  I wanted to make sure that we had a way to keep all of them in one place so they don't get lost on the way back to Denton....or me misplace them!  Ha.  I got ideas from a lot of websites and blogs and just built the idea from a couple that I liked.  Here's the finished product...

I'm not sure how often I'll be able to post for the rest of the week, but I'll try to do it as much as possible to keep everyone posted on the progression of these last few details!

Place Cards

I didn't want assigned seating for the guests, but I did want to reserve the head table for the wedding party and also tables for our families.  Rather than hang a sign on each table saying the table was reserved, I decided on place cards.

I found enough place cards to match a banner that I'm borrowing from Andrea to hang above the gift table, so I had to make some for the head table.  I think they both turned out cute!

The Music of the Night

The prelude music for the ceremony is going to be old classic love songs (think Sinatra, Fitzgerald, Doris Day, etc) with a few a cappella Disney songs mixed in that will be played over the sound system.    I wanted to find a song that is soft and slow that could also be played over the sound system so that the music  transitions well from the prelude music to the song that the grandmothers and mothers will walk in to and take their seats.  Justin's dad, L Z, and his friend are going to be playing the guitar for the bridal party processional and the bride processional so I had to think about that transitioning from the mother's song to processionals as well.  Last night, Justin and I went through several songs and we decided that a piano and strings rendition of "The Music of the Night" from the phantom of the opera would work really well.  It sounds so pretty.  Click on this link and choose the song title to listen to a snippet of what it will sound like.

And I didn't even realize this before Justin brought it up, but not only does it transition well, but it also keeps with the musical themed music that us girls will be walking down the aisle to.  I didn't do any of that on purpose...it just sort of happened that way because I love all 3 of those songs!

Banners

I made banners to dress up the walls a little bit behind the food and cake tables.  I cut card stock to serve as the background and to weigh down each panel and then cut scrapbook paper to make it pretty.  There will be a banner behind the bridal cake table that says "love is delightful" and one behind the groom's cake table that says "love is sweet"  the letters were cut out of the pretty scrapbook paper.

BM's Sash Flowers

The color in this picture is way off.  I know they look red, but they are really dark pink like the fabric on this swatch card.  So just keep that in mind.  My mom sewed them!  I think they are really cute!  And they are going to look super cute on the sashes.  I'll have a flower in my hair and the BM's will have flowers on their sashes!  I think they will compliment each other well.

Northstar Shower

Justin's co-workers threw us a shower at Northstar bank.  It was so fun and his boss, Michele, did an excellent job!

The lovely bride and groom!

This is the food table that Michele decorated.  We had cake, almonds, candy, and delicious punch with strawberries in it!  YUM!

Our beautiful cake from Candy Haven.  Michele had this specially made with one of our engagement pictures on it.  I do believe that this is my favorite picture.  It was a white chocolate cake with raspberry filling and cream cheese icing.  SO, SO GOOD.

These pretty candles were the center piece of the table.  Isn't it gorgeous?

The food table at another angle.  Look at those cute flower garlands hanging down!  So pretty!

Another vintage engagement picture that was displayed on the food table.

Michele brought in Dublin Dr. Pepper to put these koozies around.  We're taking them on our honeymoon so we can keep our beer cold on the beach! ;)

We have on buttons so you know we are the ones that are gettin' hitched!  My button had blinking lights on it!

Justin with his work team...Sherry and Michele.  Both wonderful ladies.

We talked with friends while eating cake.  Here I'm talking with Bryan about Puerto Villarta!

Next it was time to open gifts!

Michele planned a gift card shower for us and it was so cool!  Now we have plenty of cards to go get what we need, as we need it!  And they will really come in handy when we finally are able to buy a house.  Hello home decor!

Here we are opening more gift cards. Everyone was so generous!

To end the shower, we hugged and laughed with friends!
