Groom's Cake Disaster

So, you know I love to decorate cakes and you know that for the sake of saving money, I was going to make mine and Justin's wedding cakes.  I finally got some time to do a practice run on Justin's cake and let me just say, the elements were against me from the start.

I was planning a double layer 11x15 cake.  When I was transferring one cake to another counter top, it broke into about 5 pieces.  No problem I said.  I'll just piece it back together and ice it.  It wont look perfect, but that's what a practice cake is for.  Well, i couldn't figure out how to exactly piece it back together, because I'm a little bit of a moron.  Because the inner cake was exposed to the outside, the icing on the side just wouldn't stay on.  AND I didn't make enough german chocolate icing and I was only able to ice 1/2 of the top of the cake.  Here is how it turned out....

Aaaaaahhhhhh!  This is by far the wreckiest cake I've ever made!  But Justin lucked out.  Because he has the most caring, wonderful boss in the whole entire world, she offered to buy his cake for him from Candy Haven!  Yea!  So now we will have 2 beautifully decorated cakes given to us by some wonderfully nice people!

I think he still plans on having german chocolate as his cake.  And he was talking about having some chocolate covered strawberries on it with an "H" piped on the top somewhere.  (The same design I had come up with, just arranged a little differently).
